Horse oil is an extract from horse fat and it’s used to prepare meat for food production.  It’s a common practice in Japan; in the Hokkaido prefecture to be exact because they raise horses for food consumption. In Ancient China, horse oil was used in folk medicine, as they believed it to be an effective treatment for wounds, insect bites, insect bites, eczema, and foot fungi.  Some food and cosmetic historians believe that it was brought to Japan over a thousand years ago.  Aside from its medicinal properties, the Japanese also used it as a moisturizer to protect their skin from the cold weather and dry summer air. Now, horse oil is widely used in countries like Japan and South Korea. It’s also a top choice as an active ingredient in cosmetic products. Based on my research, horse oil was found to be similar with the oils our bodies produce. This is why it’s safe to use on all skin types, including a baby’s skin. Since it can be easily absorbed by our skin, horse oil is recommended for people with dry skin, as it helps moisturize the skin.

Horse oil is also effective in preventing pimples and acne. It contains a fatty acid called linolenic acid or Vitamin F. This type of vitamin has anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and healing properties. Vitamin F helps your skin become smooth and supple.

Horse oil can be rubbed all over your body, as it as it can help lock in moisture for longer periods of time. It also keeps your epidermis healthy and balances the natural tone of your skin. Horse oil also helps boost your skin’s immune system, while keeping it young-looking.
